I thought it would be cool to somehow rate the toys that we all collect. Not in any kind of scientific way, but based on the things that are important to a chogokin collector. All the ratings are subjective and just based on my own impressions. Each toy will be given a score of 1 to 10 in the following categories: appearance, playability, weight, accessories, box, and coolness. An average of all these scores will be calculated to arrive at the final rating. Let me know of any toys you'd like to see reviewed here.

Soul of Chogokin
Combattler-V

(I actually bought two of these so I can keep one in robot form and one in vehicle form)

The third toy in the Soul of Chogokin line has final arrived. Combattler come in the now standard SOC box. There is no lift off lid or handles as in the original DX (Godaikin) version. The toy itself is very clean and is very well modeled. All five vehicles are quite convincing and require almost no removal of extraneous pieces when being formed into Combattler. The battle tank has a nice set of treads. The battle marine even comes with an attachment for carrying the battle tank. However none of the vehicles shoots any missiles or any projectiles. Also be careful with the battletank shovels. They seem fairly sturdy but require a bit of pulling to come out of their folded mode.

In robot form Combattler looks great. His proportions are much better than that of the DX toy and he is actually quite poseable. However he is only 9.5" inches tall. I'd heard many rumors before the release that he was to be over 12" tall, like the Godaikin toy.

The toy come with an extra set of fists, and some nice weapons. It also comes with a display stand. It'd be great if they released SOC bases to hold our toys in!

I suppose it was unavoidable that the SOC Combattra would be compared to the DX (Godaikin) toy. The SOC Combattler-V is an amazing toy and a must have for any collector, but it is now apparent that the DX (Godaikin) toys will probably never be surpassed in their complexity and sheer massiveness. Go Get one!
