Over the years a great many abreviations, nicknames, japanese words
and other specific terms have been introduced into this hobby. To the
new and sometimes the experienced collector it can be tough to keep
track of them all. Also, problems may arise when there is ambiguity
over the true meaning of a term. This is especially true of the
"C" rating system. I hope that this list can help clear up
many of the questions people have.
Rating a Toy:
C-10 A perfect toy. No flaws. Perfect
joints, springs. Factory fresh.
C-9 Mint figure. Nice shine to paint.
Tight joints, springs. Beautiful.
C-8 Some wear. Some small scratches.
Good shine, joints and springs.
C-7 Played with. Not sharp. Small chips
of paint. Some shine. OK joints.
C-6 Heavy play. Chipped paint. Loose
joints, springs. Stress cracks.
C-5 Extreme wear. Cracks. chipped paint
and repaint. Repairs made.
C-4 Many faults. Severe scratching. Can
not be displayed.
C-3 Missing limbs, major pieces. Major cracks.
C-2 In pieces. Almost no paint. Large
breaks, cracks.
C-1 Distressed pieces which are bent.
Irreperable damage. Paper weight.
Rating a Box:
C-10 No wear anywhere. Bright colors.
Sharp lines. Strong structure.
C-9 Very slight wear to edges. Small
flaws. No tears. No shelf wear.
C-8 Little edge wear. Few small tears.
Some slight wear. Good color.
C-7 Edge wear. Slight tears. Fade in
small parts. Warpage may start.
C-6 Wear. Images still visible. Cracked
corners. Warpage growing.
C-5 More Wear. Images fading. Cracks and
bending. Warpage bad.
C-4 Images are poor. Missing pieces.
Tape. Collapsed.
C-3 Very poor. Incomplete. Torn,
cracked. No structure. No color.
C-2 Poor parts of a box.
C-1 Pulped.....nothing worth keeping.
Words and Abbreviations:
Chogokin - It means Super Alloy in
Japanese. Its what Mazinga-Z was made of.
Ebay - a place where robot toys can get
very expensive
FYI - for your information
HCM - High Complete Model. A cool line
of toy/models.
Jumbo Machinder - the "proper"
Japanese name for the big 24" Shogun toys
Loose - no box or card, just the figure
NRFB - never removed from box. I do not
believe in this practice.
NRFC - never removed from card
NRFP - never removed from package
SOC - Soul of Chogokin. Its a new toy
line of super robot die-casts. Get them.
